French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Chandelier
About the Item
A superb French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu chandelier. The six arm chandelier is centered by an elegant bottom acorn shaped and twisted ribbon finial below the dome shaped body. Three pairs of elegantly scrolled arms branch out from charming faces of Zephyrus, the God of wind, adorned with acanthus leaves and leading to foliate bobeches and fluted candle cups. At the center are richly chased swaging berried laurel garlands tied at charming hoops leading up to unique and extremely decorative swaging oak leaves and acorn movements centering a lovely fabric like design tied in a bow. Above is the original acanthus leaf canopy.
