Studies in Art, Architecture and Design, volume 1 from Mannerism to Romanticism, Volume 2 Victorian and after by Nickolaus Pevsner. New York: Walker and Company. First edition hardcover's with dust jackets, 1968. A series of illustrated essays of more than 30 years of research by professor and art historian Nikolaus Pevsner on art, architecture and design. The first part of volume one deals with Italian mannerist and baroque painting and the second half Romanticism and Classicism. In the second volume he writes about the emergence of the modern movement after the confusion of values in the Victorian age. Both volumes are richly illustrated with photographs.
