Your vibe speaks volume louder than any words could ever speak. Eclat Vibe, hand-carved wooden globe with a burst of interesting patterns throughout the piece; It has natural burl with swirls, eyes, and twirls that create a unique, highly figured wood grain, in combination with the hammered skin textured. Magnificent one of a kind globe. Burls usually grows when the tree is undergoing some stress, whether it be an injury, virus, or fungal infection. The tree's growth hormones are disrupted and it produces those magnificent patterns. Dimension: 11.81 inches / 30 cm Materials: Reclaimed teak root, natural finishing mounted on aluminium bearing for easy rotation, signed and numbered. Sphere: Shaped by hand Production time: By hand / 3 mm carved level / 6 days of carving / +/- 5 weeks from start to a finished product. Code number: 036 / 2018 HB Globes are created with great skill by Balinese artisans in our workshop located in the heart of Bali. Hand-carved from discarded teak roots recovered from lumber yards on distant island. Each piece is carefully examined to ensure it is fit for purpose before being rescued and shipped home. Here, the craftsmen apply their skills, transforming the twisted root bowls into spheroids of varying degree. Maps are individually drawn and then meticulously carved to the form of each individual shapes. The process of shaping, drying, carving and applying various finishes can take several weeks and requires another range of skills. Once finished, HB Globes are all one of a kind; even the spherical ones have their own character and those which veer wildly from the norm are unrepeatable. This globe is part of a collection of HB Globes special series which are made from excavated roots of old, legally logged teak trees. The roots need to be excavated from previously abandoned ground to enable further re-plantation of the area to allow for continued sustainable growth making these an extremely Eco product. Each globe comes with a cotton bag and packed in a plywood box.
