Based on a limited-edition Studio Job collection from 2008 consisting of five pieces of Indian rosewood furniture inlaid with vivid laser-cut marquetry, Bavaria depicts traditional farmland scenery as a dense assemblage of livestock, crops, implements, and transport in flattened perspective. This highly detailed jacquard construction is remarkable for its breadth of color and degree of illustrative clarity.
Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job.
Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel are the Dutch designers who formed Studio Job (founded 2000) after graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1998. Their work explores the macabre, the bizarre, and the everyday, drawing references from the Middle Ages to pop culture, producing art objects characterized by strong narrative and exceptional, ornate execution. In addition to their own studio work, they have completed projects for Swarovski, Rizzoli, Viktor & Rolf, and Royal Tichelaar Makkum.
