Designed by Hella Jongerius, Eden is characterized by a bold use of line, scale and composition; a mix of representational styles; and an expressive application of color. Jongerius created an imaginative landscape of accentuated floral forms dramatized by color blocking in her signature color combinations, like pink and ochre with a vibrant grass green. Weave structures play up leaf-like textures, emphasizing contours with an applique-like effect. These decorative touches are balanced by the pattern's overall sparseness seen in large areas of open ground.
Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th and 21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job.
Hella Jongerius (b. 1963, the Netherlands) is an industrial designer working from her Berlin-based studio, Jongeriuslab. Since graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven (the Netherlands) in 1993, Jongerius has fused industry to craft, high technology to low, and tradition to the contemporary by reintroducing an artisanal hand to the industrial process throughout her work with furniture, ceramics, and textiles. The Dutch design collective Droog produced much of her early work, while later she developed in-depth relationships with companies such as Vitra, IKEA, Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, and the Japanese design firm Cibone.
