Pair Scandinavian 1920s Solid Wenge Modernist Club Chairs

About the Item

A rare and exquisite pair of hand-crafted Scandinavian Modernist/Art Deco club lounge chairs, circa 1920s. These solid wenge wood chairs, possibly one of a kind, offer a unique blend of minimalist design and rustic charm, making them a sophisticated addition to any interior. Measuring 31" H x 25" W x 33" D with a seat height of 16", these remarkable chairs feature an angular frame in solid wood construction and a distinctive pillowed chevron design on the side panels. The striking grain pattern adds to the overall appeal. The framed back panel is upholstered, and the seat has a loose cushion with new foam, providing exceptional comfort. Newly upholstered in a luxurious Rogers & Goffigon slubbed natural fiber woven fabric featuring a subtle, oversized geometric pattern in natural gray and tan tones. A fabric swatch is available upon request. The original wire coil and horsehair filled cushions, now replaced, bore an extremely early Dux mattress label from the 1920s (photo upon request) "Madrass Fabriken - Dux - Malmo". These chairs are perfect for a minimalist modern rustic interior and are part of the Scandinavian design movement Sportstugemöbler, which translates to 'furniture for holiday houses.' Although the designer is unknown, the chairs are believed to be of Swedish origin due to the Dux label. Their form is reminiscent of Art Deco furniture from the Hague School (Hendrik Wouda), Amsterdam Modernism, and other Scandinavian designers from the 1920s/1930s (Axel Einar Hjorth). In good vintage condition with general wear, embossing on the wood arms, and age-related wood separation, these chairs are structurally sound and substantial in weight. A full condition report is available upon request. Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to own a truly unique and elegant pair of Scandinavian Modernist club lounge chairs. Enhance your space with these timeless statement pieces, and experience the unparalleled beauty and craftsmanship of early 20th-century design. We would be happy to provide additional photos or videos upon request. Fabric: Rogers & Goffigon Cubist 92536-01 / Compost 50% Linen 39% Cotton 8% Acrylic 3% Polyester
