A set of four designer chairs by Jacques Adnet, heavy iron frame and leather stitched armchairs. Adnet was an Art Deco modernist designer and although these Chairs were designed later in his career, they still have an Art Deco feel to them and a distinctive look that is unmatched by other furniture of the period.  The heavy iron frames have a hairpin like design, and arched backs with curved arms, the frame is encased in leather with a heavy stich.  Stylish designer pieces, originally designed as patio furniture, the chairs stack for ease of storage.  They have a Spanish revival feel and would look perfect as feature dining chairs. These set of four are heavily worn and have a wonderful authentic look.  The leather shows signs of repairs and is fragile in places which really does add to the distinct look of these rare pieces.  Although fragile in places the leather is still supple and in usable condition, the arms showing more signs of wear and repairs (please see photos).  The leather does vary in colour and has an a rich cognac hue to it with patches of darker brown (almost black).   Frames feature solid brass ball finials to the tops (one missing - see photo). They have a comfortable seating position with a wide padded seat and good sturdy backrest, arms (although heavily worn) are also padded around the iron frame .  The frames are in a patinated raw iron finish which give the chairs an unique look and age.  Back in the 50s these were promoted as patio furniture and these have a well used look to them, the iron frames are in good sound order and usable condition. Seat height = 48cm / 18.75inches Arm Height = 67cm / 28.5inches Jacques Adnet was a French art deco modernist designer, architect and interior designer born 1900 - 1984.  An icon of luxurious French Modernism, attending the Municipal School of Design in Auxerre and the École des Beaux-Arts Paris.  Adnet grew up with the 20th Century and from 1928 to 1960, he directed La Compagnie des Arts Francais. His team of decorators included Francois Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand and Georges Jouve. Adnet presided over the Salon des Artistes Decorateurs from 1947 to 1949.
