Set of 6 Art Nouveau chairs with stunning hand carved flower patterns. The quality of the materials with which these Arts & Crafts chairs were made and also the quality of the workmanship that created, among other things, the decor of flowers in these chairs is something that you simply don't find anymore in this day and age. Up until circa 1930 these skills had been handed down through generations, probably since the middle ages. These remarkable chairs are all handcrafted out of solid nutwood and both the overal design and the quality of the details are among the best we have ever seen in Arts & Crafts chairs. If you were able to find a craftsman capable of creating a chair of similar quality and beauty then one chair like this would cost you at least 5000 US dollar. For the wooden surface of all of these chairs to be in such superb condition shows that former owners have all recognized the incredible beauty and rareness of this set of six. They really are of museum quality and condition. Apart from some minor wear to the lower parts of the backrests, the beautiful Arts & Crafts upholstery too is in superb condition. Furthermore, these antique chairs are as strong and stable as the day they were handcrafted and in image 10 you can see that, fairly recently, the springs underneath the seats have been re-alligned and supported with new 'singles'. Reupholstered. Wear consistent with age and use. These stunning chairs have at some point in time been re-upholstered and the suspension under the seats has also been professionally redone (see image 10). The backs of 2 of these 6 chairs show a discoloration caused by direct sunlight (see image 17).
