About the Item
Pair of chairs designed by Rudolf Wolf for Elsrijk, re-upholstered in black leather. Netherlands, mid-20th century.
The chairs have a simple minimal design with the bent metal rod being the same for the legs and upper frame, which continues from the arms to cross the back of the chair. For us, the strong clean lines allow these attractive pieces to work stand-alone pieces; as side chairs, desk or dining chairs. Both have been professionally re-upholstered with fine piping to retain the linear design of the original pads; the rubber feet have been replaced. Elsewhere the chairs are in good vintage condition, showing signs of wear in line with age and use, including minor losses or fading to the finish of the black metal legs and bakelite arm-rests, minor rust to the metal and a little twisting to the frames. Elsrijk stamp on the under side of one seat.
