Small 18th Century Mahogany Chest

About the Item

A Very Attractive George II Period Mahogany Chest, Of Diminutive Proportions, Having Superbly Figured Top Over Two Short And Three Long Drawers, With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Ogee Bracket Feet.  This fabulous little chest of drawers is of a very sweet, small size which is rarely found. It is also excellent quality in terms of its construction and the choice of timbers, meaning it is perfect for a while variety of different functions, in a wide range of different locations. This is helped by the enduring functionality of the piece, which is certainly as fit for purpose as the day it was made.  It has clearly been well loved and regularly polished throughout the many years of its life as it retains an exceptional colour and untouched patina. The brass handles are replacements in the original style and the elegant ogee feet are also original.  As with all of the items which we offer for sale this Georgian Chest Of Drawers has been attended to in our workshops in the traditional manner using natural wax polish, by our highly skilled and well trained restorers to ensure it is in good, clean condition before being offered for sale.     A very good quality mid 18th century chippendale period Georgian Mahogany chest, having well figured top over slide and four long drawers, retaining original brass swan neck handles, raised on elegant original shaped bracket feet. Whilst a relatively commonly found design and form for a Georgian Chest of this period, this particualr chest boasts some exceptional features which set it apart from many. These include the exceptional quality of construction, the use of the well figured, rich mahogany timbers and the practical dimensions. The colour and patina throughout remain excellent and overall it is in good condition with very little restoration, or damage of consequence to speak of. The retention of its original brass handles and its original bracket feet is another indicator of how well loved and cherished this item has been throughout the years of its life.
