About the Item
Extraordinary, sculptural walnut desk by Melchiorre Bega, originally designed in 1940.
Melchiorre Bega was born in Caselle di Crevalcore (BO) in 1898. He graduated in Architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. From 1941 to 1944 he directed, after the founder Gio Ponti, the Italian architecture magazine Domus, together with Pagano and Bontempelli. He worked on the redevelopment of old buildings, villas, and commercial activities at the beginning of his career. Later he established himself in Italy and abroad. In the post-war period, he devoted himself more to architectural design and urban planning.
