Art Deco Mahogany Round Table with Extensions, by Jacques Adnet, circa 1940

About the Item

Beautiful round extendable dining table in solid and veneered mahogany. The table top is in veneered mahogany with a "sun" pattern. The top and bottom of the 4 legs are decorated with ornamental bronzes. The table has its 3 original extensions which increases the width by 100 cm. In good condition. Art Deco, France, around 1940. By Jacques Adnet (1900-1984), French architect and decorator who began his career with his twin brother Jean, with whom he created the company J.J. Adnet. Then in 1928 Jacques became director of La Compagnie des Arts Francais, a renowned company created by Louis Süe and André Mare. During his career he will collaborate with many designers such as Francois Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand and Georges Jouve; will work for the luxury brand Hermès; and will become president of the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs. Nowadays, Jacques Adnet's Art Deco works are exposed in many museums. Dimensions : Height: 73cm. Top without extensions: 100 cm X 100 cm. Top with extensions: 200 cm X 100 cm.
