About the Item
Portrait of a little girl depicted at play in interior with a sleeping dog behind her. it is a very rare ( for the modern market) original work of well known German artist Bernhard Winter. From 1887 to 1891 he attended the Dresden Academy of Fine Art. In 1896 he received the second Gold Medal at a Munich exhibition; in 1898 - the same exhibition award in Berlin and, in 1899, in Dresden - the Gold Plakette (Badge). In 1903, for his outstanding artistic contribution'', Winter received the title of a professor, thus becoming the youngest professor in the history of Oldenburg.
He was a very popular artist before WW1. In that period, his work achieved high prices.
