Selenoglyph, #2: Wall-Mounted Sculpture in Copper by TJ Volonis
About the Item
Title: Selenoglyph, #2
Year: 2015
Selenoglyph, #2 (“written upon the moon”) is a large-scale, wall-mounted sculpture executed entirely in half-inch copper tubing. Its inspiration is derived from the Greek lunar goddess, Selene, and the copper’s finish is muted so as to evoke the specifically cool and calm energy of the moon. This is the second in a series of moon sculptures and belongs to the artist’s thematic commentary on humanity's destruction and failed recreation / subjugation of the natural world. Each piece is handmade and hand soldered and is one of a kind. May be wall-mounted or suspended.
