18K Regency Period Memorial Band, Dated March 1 1830
About the Item
Exceptional mourning band of the Regency period, with stripes of black enamel bordered with gold trim sandwiched between chased floral borders. The inscription reads "Mrs. Anne Smith Cunninghame of Caprington died 1st of March 1830." on the inside. The Scottish origin of the name Cunningham of Caprington along with the prefix "Mrs." tells us this ring was made in loving memory of a beloved Scottish wife. With its braided hair compartment intact, hand blocked engraving and chased borders, this is a memorial ring to treasure. US size 6 3/4.
