About the Item
This is a lovely vintage Peter Bettley London 1980's wide brimmed hat in cream with a wide pink satin bow and ribbon on the crown. The perimeter of the brim is trimmed in a pink grosgrain ribbon. We especially love the way the brim is wider in the front and shorter in the back! Hats like these were so beautifully made and this one is so spectacular in person.
Peter Bettley started his career as an engineer but after meeting the famous milliner Otto Lucas, he was so inspired that he made the shift to hat making! After starting out as an apprentice, he worked in several positions for a variety of milliners before he decided to launch his own brand in the 1970's. His hats have been worn by many celebrities and Royals and have been sold in luxury stores including Harrods of London.
