Victorian Brown Mohair and Mongolian Lamb Jet-Beaded Mantle - One Size, 1890s

About the Item

With enough body to stand on its own, this mantle flares so much when worn that none of the embroidered jet detail is obscured. Though the mohair is actually chocolate brown, it's plush enough to look black at certain angles. Exquisite quality unavailable in today's clothing. Chocolate brown mohair half-cape with Peter Pan collar, allover floral passementerie and jet bead detail; 2 ½” Mongolian lamb trim at collar and front opening edges. Three heavy-duty hook and eye closures from throat to waist and open (15”) to hem; no armholes. Single interior mohair flap pocket; fully lined in black polished cotton. fabric: mohair, Mongolian lamb fur, polished cotton noteworthy: dry clean only (remove fur trim first!) alterations: none condition: very good with gentle drying to leather backing on fur trim measurements: collar: 4” at widest, not including 2 ½” fur trim neck circumference: 15 ½” fully closed shoulders: approx 17” length: 28” from shoulder sweep: 95” label: no label present size: no size tag present; comparable to modern size one size fits most
