This is a really wonderful Yves Saint Laurent vintage 2 piece silk dress that we have documented on the 1984 runway! It has a black and white abstract patterned silk looks almost like zebra stripes! The white sections have tone on tone shiny spots that resemble cheetah spots. YSL loved this print and used it in several different color ways, we have three different versions! The neckline of the blouse is gathered, and looks like it is elastic but is fixed, and the skirt is a wrap style, securing at the waist. This vintage Yves Saint Laurent dress from the 1980s is in an ivory tonal houndstooth tonal print with colorful abstract polka dots and ovals in shades of red, green, blue, purple, and orange. There is a side zipper closure and button closures on the bodice. The waistband is fixed with just the right amount of YSL pleating which is always perfectly done. The skirt is knife pleated and there are shoulder pads for structure. Yves Saint Laurent designed so many incredible pieces but some of our favorites are his printed silk day dresses. This gorgeous dress is a great example of YSL's eye for patterns and details. He designed these dresses with the thought that they could be belted with a variety of YSL belts...

When Yves Saint Laurent visited Morocco for the first time in 1966 it changed his life forever. Struck by its beauty he immediately acquired a house in Marrakech and stayed there at least two times a year to design his collections. Yves Saint Laurent once said: ‘Marrakech opened my eyes to color.’ The colors of the stained glass windows and beamed ceilings of the Bahia Palace in Marrakech are a perfect example what inspired him when designing this particular dress for his Rive Gauche collection that came out in 1982. The exciting mix of vivid colors Yves Saint Laurent used designing this dress have a pattern of vertical stripes in lively red, purple indigo, apple green and Dijon yellow alternated with thin black and white stripes. Adding a pussy bow and bishop sleeves gives the entire look an elegant feel. The high quality silk is in a very good vintage condition and has been professionally cleaned and pressed. The state of this unique Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche dress is very good, only a small piece of the original mother-of-pearl button left hand button has chipped off (see the last photograph), but can be easily replaced.
