Vintage 1950's blue silk organza rhinestone dress smocking pleated UK 10-12 US 6

About the Item

A beauty to behold, rendered in the most eye-catching shade of ocean blue silk organza accented by sparkling silver inlaid rhinestone features, this original 1940's dress is sure to be a favourite in your collection. The high rounded neckline is framed by a slim turned down collar, which draws in and crosses over beneath a silver rhinestone buckle along the front of the neckline, creating a pussy bow design. The simple shoulder line, sets off the sleeveless cut of the dress, and draws the eye to the fully pleated bodice, which boasts small gathered smocking stitches. The fitted bodice, draws the eye to the cinched in waistline and dropped skirt line. The dropped skirt line is accented by a decorative silk organza stylised turned belt, which is finished with matching rhinestone buckles along the front of each hipline. Finished with draped pleats along the lightly flared skirt, which has been photographed here with a medium petticoat for added volume, this beautiful dress showcases the iconic and timeless craftsmanship of the era. Label: None Measurements of the Dress Armpit to Armpit: from 36 to 38 inches ( there is an allowance thanks to the smocking stitches) Shoulder to Hem: 43.5 inches Waist: 28 to 30 inches ( there is an allowance thanks to the smocking stitches) Hips: 44 inches Shoulder to Shoulder: 15 inches Size UK 10-12 US 6-8 Closures: This dress fastens along the side seam with a 10.5 inch metal zip and along the nape with a 5.5 inch metal zip and a hook and loop. Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. Very small and gentle area of wear to the silk organza along the edged of the back of the left hand side collar. A small area of wear to the silk organza along one of the small pleats in the front of the bodice above the waistline. A very small area of wear to the silk organza along the left hand side of the bodice near the side zip fastening. A few very faint scattered age marks are concealed within the pleats and drape of the skirt. These incredibly minor issues are not apparent when the dress is being worn. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the condition report. Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water. Fabric: Silk organza, rhinestone buckles, rayon lined along the skirt Vintage garments have been previously worn and lovingly cared for, they may however have a blemish or two.
