About the Item

A marvel to behold, this original 1950's silk brocade dress in a vibrant shade of fuchsia pink with rose pink accents, in a wonderfully intricate butterfly pattern, is just the piece to add to your vintage collection. The V shaped neckline of the dress is framed by a pointed collar, which joins the front of the neckline in a cross over design, which draws in along the waist seam. The simple shoulder line sets off the short capped sleeves, which frame the fitted bodice, accenting the tailored darts seams along either side of the bust-line. The cinched in waistline, is accented by a gathered silk brocade panel, which pleats and draws the eye to the decorative matching silk brocade rosette along the left hand side of the waistline. The elegant line of the skirt, is set off by tailored darts that run from beneath either side of the waist-seam, creating double pleat features. This dress is fully lined in silk. Label: None Measurements Of The Dress: Armpit to Armpit: up to 34 inches Shoulder to Hem: 36.5 inches Waist: up to 28 inches Hips: up to 40 inches Neckline to End of Sleeve: 6 inches Size: UK 10 US 6 Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. There are seam mends to each armpit area and wear to the internal silk lining along the armpits. A few small areas of wear to the silk brocade along the skirt and bodice, these are areas where the brocade pattern has worn thin and small holes have appeared, these are well concealed with the pink silk lining and only apparent when the dress is held up to the light ( there is one along the front right hand side of the bodice beneath the bust, and another along the back right hand side of the dress 7 inches up from the hemline near the side seam) These minor details are not apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable upon close inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report. Fastenings: This dress fastens along the back with a 21.5 inch metal zip and two metal hook and eyes Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water.
