1970s Ann Buck White Printed Jersey Dress and Jacket

About the Item

This vibrant 1970s white printed jersey two piece with leather trim detail is by Ann Buck, a designer notable for her work in combining these two fabrics with exciting and desirable results. This lovely ensemble comprises of a straight cut jersey dress with a lively blue, green and yellow abstract print and matching ¾ sleeve jacket. The plunging décolletage neckline of the dress is trimmed with soft yellow hole punched leather and there is a colourful tasselled drawstring that can be tied at the centre over the bust. and leather shoulder straps in contrasting green and blue which are secured over the neckline with popper fastenings both on the front and reverse of the dress. The waistline is drawn in with a matching yellow leather tie belt which features pretty leather tassels in green and blue. The loose fitting jacket is gathered with some stitched pleating at the reverse of the neck and can be fastened to the left of the round collar with a tie so that it falls open over the left breast. This lively and stylish set is in wonderful vintage condition and due to its loose fitting cut could potentially suit a variety of sizes. • 1960s Contessa Cream Silk Dress with Pink Embellished Waistband
    Located in London, GB
1960s Contessa evening dress in a lovely cream silk, with an embroidered geometric waistband. The dress features a high neck with floor length A-line skirt. The gazar silk has a wonderful thickness and structure to it, and flows beautifully from the waist. The band is heavily embroidered with pale and cerise pink threads, outlined in gold, complete with gold and pink gemstone detail. The high, rounded neckline is both flattering and classic, with the original zip closure going all the way down the back of the dress. Silk gazar was much used in bridal and evening fashion due to its ability to hold its shape. This is a high-end, well made dress and was certainly inspired by the work of Christobal Balenciaga...

  • 1950s Ceil Chapman Black Silk Taffeta Full Circle Dress
    By Ceil Chapman
    Located in London, GB
This is a brilliant example of Ceil Chapman's early work from the late 1940s to early 1950s and the black taffeta silk design is exquisite. Its the first thing you notice about this dress which has the most unusual construction. The skirt's textured element from a distance looks like a floral design but its actually a large number of circular pleated stitched designs. The way the fabric is pulled and stitched creates an almost 3D effect. We have never seen this work before but it would have taken a very skilled seamstress and an incredible amount of time to do it. The dress style is a classic shirtwaister design with three taffeta covered buttons to fasten the bodice which is beautifully shaped and Princess seamed. The sleeves are three quarter length and feature a folded cuff...
