1989 Runway Haute Couture Nina Ricci Brocade Dress

About the Item

This incredible 1990s Nina Ricci haute couture party dress is a guaranteed show-stopper and boasts a striking array of design features synonymous with the uncompromising feminine glamour of this celebrated label. Lavish, deep purple lame fabric is enlivened by floral detail in metallic jade and crimson tones and is skillfully reinforced, gathering at the waist to create a dramatic puff effect skirt that maintains a playful bell shape in place just above the knee. The sensational off-shoulder neckline is boldly embellished with an indulgent two-tone silk ruffle in purple and jade green which effortlessly balances the vivacious flare from the hip. The bodice is beautifully corseted to accentuate the waist and silk lined to add to the sense of luxury. The underskirt of the dress is of the same thick lame fabric, but is by contrast a slim pencil skirt design with a ruffle trim to mirror that of the neckline. This detail is inconspicuous except to the wearer, and affords the piece a certain mischief. The aesthetic is consolidated by a demure bow at the front of the waistband. It is an exquisite garment and in truly excellent condition. It is notably a small size, and would best fit US size 2 - 4, UK size 6 - 8. Our model is a UK size 6-8 and 5ft 4in. (163cm) and this dress was roomy around the bust on her. Please note, we had to pin this dress. MEASUREMENTS: BUST : 32 in. (81 cm) WAIST : 26 in. (66 cm) HIP : 36 in. (91 cm) LENGTH : 34 in.
