1930s Gown with Beading

Beautiful cold shoulder bishop speeded gown with Art Deco bugle bead detailing on the sheer areas. This is an ankle length evening gown in classic black. The column shape nips in at the waist with a gently-curved seam, which gives way to a lightly gathered crossover bust section and a sharp V-neck. The halter-like straps sit high on the shoulders and connect in back to the sheer panel which extends from the back neck to the lower spine, and across the torso from side seam to side seam. The points of the shoulders and much of the upper arms are completely bare. The full sleeves extend from the sheer back panel and drip gracefully down the arm before being gathered back in at the wrists. The skirt is a classic shape, flaring very slightly below the knees, and its simplicity allows the sheer fabric to take center stage. Dotted with embellished diamond shapes, and finished at the back neck with a row of zig-zagged edging, the chiffon evokes the glamorous card tables and casinos of the 1930s and 40s, and all the romance and danger of film noire. With classic elegance and early-century romance, this gown is a striking yet versatile choice.
