About the Item

Zandra Rhodes expertly blends the 1920's flapper era with a late 1970's bohemian design to create a cocktail dress that is nothing less than wearable art. The dress zips and hooks at the back with layers of black silk chiffon 'strips' hand painted in a matte silver with pearl embellishments at the neckline and sleeves. The nude panel at the neck serves as a trompe l'oeil effect with the pearls to create an illusion of a necklace. So clever! The drop waist silhouette and the movement of the chiffon strips in the skirt further add to the flapper look. Add a dance bag and t-strap shoes for a stylish evening ensemble with a nod to the past. Excellent vintage condition with the exception of missing shoulder pads ... the original 'sleeves' for the pads are still in place though the original pads are removed and could be replaced, if desired. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The dress is marked an English size 10 and U.S. size 8 though it best fits a modern U.S. size 4 with strong shoulders or a U.S. size 6 with narrow hips.
