An iconic and instantly recognizable Hanae Mori couture kimono-sleeve gown dating back to her 1975-76 collection. Whilst on a Paris holiday in 1960, Mori had a fateful fitting with Coco Chanel. She claimed this meeting changed her life and she challenged herself to realize her own dream of designing haute couture. By 1965 she had launched her own line and had orders from prestigious stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. This is everything you look for in a Hanae Mori garment. Made of feather light silk chiffon that has been custom screened with one of her spectacular large-scale rose garden floral prints. The vibrant blue mixed with the pops of fuschia, red and green truly makes this an epic piece. The cut has that draped goddess feel that collectors crave when they look for the best of Hanae's pieces. The bodice has a semi-sheer illusion with two wide sweeping curved kimono-sleeve panels that almost touch the floor! I adore the matching sash for a flattering nipped waist look. Hanae is the only woman of Japanese descent to have presented on the Paris and New York Runways and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official haute couture house. You can clearly see why in this magnificent example of her work.
