About the Item
Cadoro, which was launched on Fifth Avenue in 1954 by Steve Brody and Dan Steneskieu (Stoenescu) in 1954 after the duo met in Paris became known for inventive body jewelry which used chenille and plastics alongside more traditional crystals, brushed gold, and enamel for designs which were bought by the likes of the Duchess of Windsor and Barbra Streisand. Cadoro made a wide variety of high-fashion costume jewelry, which was sold in such stores as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Examples of Cadoro jewelry are held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
This piece from Cadoro is a very rare example of the designers’s aesthetic which focused on adorning the body which was Inspired by classical statues and frescoes such as that of Venus in Pompéi.
