Throughout his career, which started in the 1950s, Louis Feraud dressed very chic women and actresses including Ingrid Bergman and Elisabeth Taylor.
Unlike Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior Feraud did not seem to want the personal celebrity status enjoyed by these designers.
For this reason he is still under the radar in the US. The fashion crowd however know what he is about.
A talented artist who was inspired by the art of other cultures that influenced his fashion design as well. He maintained a leading position as a fashion designer of the world until his death in 1999.
He created costumes in the 1980s for films and TV series including Dynasty and Dallas.
Feraud’s fashion designs of this era symbolise the zeitgeist of the decade that worshipped status symbols and courted conspicuous dressing.
This flamboyant tailored jacket is constructed with a soft leather material. Featuring notched collar, single breasted closure and long sleeves with slightly padded shoulders. The front of the jacket is adorned with two flap pockets and is meticulously trimmed with white leather. The jacket is fully lined with a red-silk like material embossed with the designer’s logo.
