What a dramatic set this is. It was originally meant to be worn as a lingerie set but you could really wear either piece of it out on its own so it is really a great little find and a bit of a bargain since its like buying two dresses in one swoop. It's two pieces - a dress that is sleeveless and has spaghetti straps and an outer piece that is more like one of her signature caftans. I have seen this done in a pattern and in solid black but never in this eye-catching and blue tone. Obviously Zandra is renowned for her use of design and pattern, but this piece really allows her absolute genius for design shine through on its own. The under dress is a sheath of blue silk with a ruffle detailing the bust. It falls to the floor and is suspended from the shoulder with a double strap. The outer dress is more of a caftan in feel and is very easy to wear as it just slips on and there is elastic that runs through the waist. The front is very low and sexy with its plunging neckline right to the waist. The sleeves are cut very full and curved like an angle sleeves. I love the knife pleat ruffle that runs around the collar and neck. The skirt flares out so you have a wonderful light fullness as it cascades to the floor. When you wear it over the inner dress it conceals the plunge (as photoed) but if worn on its own that plunge will leave you bare to the high waist seam. Excellent condition Unlined and made form a silk looking lingerie weight jersey. There is a classic Zandra print that runs through the fabric. Both pieces slip on to wear and are opaque enough to be able to be worn individually. Exterior caftan Sleeves: 18.5" approx.
