S/S2011 Raf Simons for Jil Sander Skirt
“Who would excite me if I went out at night?” Jil Sander’s, then designer Raf Simons asked himself when designing the S/S2011 collection. “Everyone is in a tiny cocktail dress and extreme shoes. I’d be much more interested in seeing a girl in a ten-euro T-shirt and a couture skirt.”
So led the review on Vogue.com about this collection. This collection was called showstopping, genius and the to the floor skirts and gowns were instantly sold out and then waitlisted world wide. The proportions where daring and the cuts and drape perfection. This particular skirt was a stand out - it was used in the ad campaigns and was photographed on countless society girls, celebrities and adorned many magazine editorials. Raf has since gone on to high acclaim at Dior, making this now even more relevant and valuable to the collector. The skirt is customs screened silk and falls to the floor in a dramatic column of fabric. Pockets sit on each hip and the waist is masterfully and softly pleated. It was never worn and still has its original Jil Sander hang tag. Excellent, unworn condition.
