About the Item

An adorable C.1970 mod pantsuit from California company, Arpeja, for their Young Victorian line designed with a trendy youthful appeal. The two piece suit consists of a form fitting short jacket with self belt and high waist cropped gaucho style pants that were quite popular in the 1970's. Both pieces are fabricated from a nubby wool ruby red tweed colorfully speckled with red, yellow, green, orange and blue. The jacket has velveteen trim across the shoulder, back and cuffs with coordinating buttons up the front and a built in buckled belt. The pants zip and button at the back and sport a 2" wide waistband perfect for tucking under the jacket belt. Both pieces are lined with a synthetic backing which provides added shape to the silhouette. Pair it with lace up boots and a pageboy hat to complete a period perfect look that meets current trends, as well. CONDITION The suit is in very good vintage condition though the interior lining shows discolorations. There is a yellowing to the lining at the interior back panel of the jacket as shown in photograph 14. There are discolorations to the lining running along the seams of the pants including the inseam and stride areas as indicated in photograph 12. Photograph 13 shows a couple of dark lining spots near the hem of one pant leg. None of these discolorations are visible on the exterior. The suit has been professionally cleaned and is ready for wear. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS The size is not marked though the suit best fits a modern U.S. size 2 - 4. The mannequin in the photographs is a size 4 and the jacket fit snuggly though it looked great.
