About the Item

Vintage 1932 three piece formal tailcoat evening suit. Jacket and trousers were made by Moritz & Winter and waistcoat by Anderson & Fritzell, both of Milwaukee. Waistcoat is dated August 1932 in an interior pocket. Jacket and trousers are made of black wool. Jacket has a grosgrain lapel and open front. One interior pocket and a small compartment in each section of the "tails". Fully lined in silk. Trousers have grosgrain ribbon stripe detail at sides. Two front and two back pockets. Suspender buttons at the interior of the waistband. TALON metal zipper fly, which may have been added at a slightly later date. Waistcoat has a black silk brocade front and and solid black silk back. Two small exterior and one interior pocket. Buckle at back. Holes at front for stud closures. Fully lined with silk. The suit was custom made for prominent Milwaukee businessman Emil Hokanson just months before his death in December of 1932, and its near pristine condition suggests it may have never been worn. Please note that the shirt, bow tie and vest studs photographed with the suit are NOT included. Unmarked Fabric Content: Wool and silk; Lining: Silk. Measurements: JACKET: Shoulder: 18" (seam to seam) / 21" (shoulder to shoulder) Sleeve: 25" (shoulder seam to cuff) Chest: 38" (armpit to armpit) Waist: 34" (narrowest point) Total Length: 45" (measured at back center) / 18" (shoulder to hem, at front) PANTS: Waist: 30" (narrowest point) Hip: 42" (measure 6" below waist) Rise: 14" (crotch to top of waistband) Inseam: 31" (crotch to end of leg) Total Length: 43.5" (measured on side) VEST: Chest: 36" (armpit to armpit) Waist: 34" (narrowest point) Total Length: 22.5" ( shoulder to hem, at front)
