1960s Indian Black Zardozi Embroidered Clutch Bag with Box
About the Item
This clutch bag was made in India circa late 1950s to early 1960s. Handcrafted from rich black velvet on the outside, it has a concertina construction with a black satin lining. The inside contains three compartments. There is a label that reads “Hand Embroidered” and “Made in India”. It has a tonal black snap closure. The outside is embellished with stunning Zardozi embroidery work, in a geometric design crafted from silver-tone metal and detailed with glass beads in red, green and blue. The delicate metalwork continues across the handle on the rear of the bag.
In very good to excellent vintage condition. The fabric remains flawless with no gaps to the embroidery. Not that you'd see it but we counted two glass beads missing from the front of the bag. Housed in its original silver box and fits a large iPhone perfectly.
