About the Item

This 1950’s Bellestone black alligator handbag would be perfect for an Alfred Hitchcock heroine ... think Grace Kelly, Tippi Hedren or Kim Novak. The classic top handle silhouette has a gold tone frame with a push button closure accented with a doorknocker style ring and decorated with cross hatching. The sturdy handle is rounded providing both comfort and durability. The interior is lined with bone leather and features a zippered compartment and three open pockets which house a faux tortoise compact mirror, comb and coordinating change purse. Beautifully made and a classy design that is stylish paired with everything from a business suit to blue jeans. CONDITION Overall the handbag is in very good condition with a couple of issues worth mentioning. The gold tone hardware has some patina with darkened areas both on the decorative ring and push button closure as shown in photograph 5. There are pinkish spots under the lacquer on the back hardware as shown in photograph 8. Though the interior looks clean at first glance, the leather shows signs of cracking which is primarily noticeable at the hinges as shown in photographs 12 and 13 . There is an ink spot rather buried in a bottom corner as shown in photograph 14. Sounds like a laundry list but in reality this bag was probably only used on special occasions and the issues are more age related rather than from wear. MEASUREMENTS The body of the handbag measures 11.5" wide x 8" tall x 3.5" deep. The handle measures 15" from end to end providing for a 5.5" drop.

Fun and fabulous 1970’s Mary McFadden black romper jumpsuit with exotic braided belt. The jumpsuit zips at the front to the waist and has a collarless plunging neckline with hidden hooks, if modesty is required.
