18-th Century Tokugawa Shogunate Document Box. Meiji Period

About the Item

A Rare and Historic Letter Box This rare and historic letter box is made of leather and is covered with embossed Tokugawa Shogun gilded crests. The box bears the name of an official in the Bakufu government and was used for delivery of important official correspondence. The box is in very good condition, with only some very minor abrasions due to its age. The leather is soft and supple, and the gilding is still bright and shiny. The box is also decorated with a simple design, which adds to its beauty. This box is a rare and valuable piece of Japanese history and culture. It would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
