$8,000

About
The blessed figure is here lying on the right flank, his legs resting one on top of the other, his head resting on his right hand, supported by a cushion. His left arm is covered by the golden robe. A golden raised band separates the hairline and the ushnisha from the face. His face is long and oval and his eyes meet in slit imparting an absorbed and inward vision.
This is a vivid depiction of “The Great Extinction of the Breath” that illustrates Master going out to reach Nirvana. As the texts say, "his mind plunged into the depths of mystical absorption, and when it had reached that degree in which every thought, every emotion is extinguished, where the consciousness of individuality ceases, it reaches the state of the supreme Nirvana.
This piece is very unique in the sense that the colours are very sharp and possess a very strong contrast. The skin colour of the piece is white, while the colour of the hair is pitch black, displaying a high level of contrast. Along with the golden rope and dramatic facial expressions, the piece really stands out in terms of the strong character.
