Chinese Marigold Yellow Storage Coffer, c. 1900
About the Item
While most Chinese lacquered furniture is black or red in color, this 19th-century storage coffer is colored by a marigold-yellow lacquer finish with a wonderful crackled texture. The coffer's clean-lined design is accented by striking full moon brass hardware and subtle carved decoration on the apron. Originally used for storing clothes, bedding, and other household goods, the coffer provides ample storage with four shallow drawers and two lower compartments.
