Chinese Wine Table with Crossed Stretchers, c. 1850
About the Item
Crossed stretcher bars and apron curves animate the square profile of this elmwood table. Made in Hebei province circa 1850, the beautifully preserved table was used for sharing wine and spirits. Imbibers would gather around the table and engage in a group toast, finishing their drinks in one gulp. We love how its unusual and intoxicating lines energize a room.
