Ming Dynasty Style Wedding Armchairs with Curving Arms and Woven Rattan Seats

About the Item

A near pair of Chinese Ming Dynasty style vintage wedding armchairs from the mid-20th century, with woven rattan seats, curving armrests and natural wood patina. Born in China during the mid-century period, each of this near pair (they present slight variations) of armchairs features an open back with curving splat. The chairs are flanked with curving open arms with gooseneck front posts resting on a rattan seat with wooden frame, strengthened with sinuous side posts. Created for the bride to be lead to meet her future husband, these armchairs are raised on four splaying legs with arch-shaped apron, the ensemble being strengthened by side stretchers of varying heights and spandrels in the front. With their elegant lines and lovely natural patina, these vintage Ming Dynasty style armchairs will be great decorative accents for any home, perhaps placed in a foyer, living room, bedroom or office.
