Antique Japanese Tomyodai, Edo period
About the Item
Japanese Tomyodai, a temple light stand created of iron and copper in the upright form of the Tama (Buddhist flaming jewel) with 13 ringlet projections to hold ceramic oil dishes (replaced), a four legged base with copper pan base. Current day use with candle tea lights. Signs of wear and encrustation, otherwise fine condition. 28 inches high x 14 inches x 7 inches. 5 lbs. Edo period, circa 1850.
