Antique Meiji Period Earthenware Vase with Butterfly Decoration
About the Item
This large antique earthenware vase was made in Japan is circa 1900 in the Meiji period and style. This vase stands a foot high and is done with a very vibrant orange ground with numerous well executed butterflies in flight in varying sizes around the bulbous base with heavy gilt decoration on the neck. The vase is clearly marked on the bottom but the artist was unable to be identified.
