Chinese Qing Mother of Pearl Inset Wooden Glove Box
About the Item
A fine quality antique Chinese wooden glove box inset with decorative mother of pearl panels dating from the 19th or possibly late 18th century. The rectangular sleeve box has inset panels to each side made up in a collage of cut our pieces in various tones and colours the lid with figures in a watery landscape with a pagoda style building and tree set within a decorative border with fined engraved panels. The sides are similarly decorated one with a bridge and masted ship moored behind an arrangement of shrubs. The lid slides off to reveal a high sided container, the sides inset with mother of pearl floral designs. The box is not marked.
Offered in good condition with wear commensurate with age and use.
