Travel poster for the Car festival at Puri India. This 1957 poster is not for the celebration of GM or Mercedes but is in fact for a religious ceremony, known as the Car ceremony, dating back to the 8th Century. The Lord Jaggannatha is known as the redeemer of the fallen. Once a year he appears inside the great shrine at Puri to allow followers to redeem their re-birth by seeing Visnu. He is classed as the Saint For The Common Man, irrespective of Caste, Color, Creed or Sex.
