  • Keiko Minami Signed Large Limited Edition Japanese Etching Print Birds and Reeds
    Located in Studio City, CA
A beautiful and rather whimsical etching by famed Japanese artist Keiko Minami who was known for her pictograph-like aquatints/etchings with a playful, childlike aesthetic. This work features a pair of birds - perhaps herons - sitting serenely in a natural landscape reed-filled body of water as a gentle breeze blows by. The etching is on thick wove paper and is hand-signed and numbered (23/50) in pencil by Keiko along the lower margin. A rather rare image and size. Would make for a great addition to collectors of Minami's work or Japanese / Asian art or make for an eye-catching stand-alone accent artwork in about any setting. Minami had many solo shows including: 1960 Minami Keiko Exhibition, Nichido Gallery 1990 Minami Keiko Exhibition: The World of Fairy Tales in Copperplate Prints, Takaoka Art Museum 2005 Birds, Trees and Girls: The World of Copperplate Poetry: A Memorial Exhibition for Minami Keiko 2011-12 100th Anniversary of Keiko Minami Exhibition — Touring Kyoto, Takaoka, Kichijoji, Sakura, Tatebayashi 2016 Keiko Minami Exhibition: Along with the Work of Ichi Ogawa in the Wind, Musée Hamaguchi Yozo/Yamasa Collection 2017 Keiko Minami Copperplate Exhibition: Holding a Flower Basket, Musée Hamaguchi Yozo/Yamasa Collection 2019 Keiko Minami Exhibition: Koto, Koto. • Junichiro Sekino Signed Limited Edition Japanese Woodblock Print Rooftop View
    By Junichiro Sekino
    Located in Studio City, CA
A wonderfully composed and richly colored, limited edition woodblock print by famed Japanese artist Junichiro Sekino. This relatively large print, which is of a rooftop view of a temple shrine in Japan (perhaps Nagasaki as he did a similar print in 1975 but perhaps Kyoto or Tokyo) is hand pencil signed, sealed / stamped in red, numbered (18/128), and dated (1972). The image is likely from Sekino's coveted rooftop series that he did featuring various rooftop patterns from around the world including Japan and Italy. An exquisite and rare / hard-to-find work. Junichiro Sekino was largely considered, along with Kiyoshi Saito, to be one of Japan's paramount 20th-century master print artists. Both were prominent leaders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. Sekino's works can be found in many museums including: The Museum of Modern Art, N. Y., the Art Institute Chicago, the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, the British Museum, and the Portland Art Museum among many other Fine museums throughout the world. Would be a fantastic addition to any modern Japanese print...

  • Yoshitoshi Mori Signed Large Limited Edition Japanese Stencil Print, 1985
    By Yoshitoshi Mori
    Located in Studio City, CA
A quite large and engaging fine print by famed Japanese printmaker Yoshitoshi Mori. The print portrays an ancient Samurai, one of Mori's favorite subjects, with an arrowhead in hand. It is stamped, signed, dated (1985) and numbered (12/50) by the artist. The original 1985 price of 300,000 yen can be seen written along the bottom edge of print. I have only seen this print offered once before making it relatively rare. A must have for collectors or admirers of Yoshitoshi Mori's work or lovers of Japanese prints in general. Would stand out in any setting and/or collection. The print has been professionally framed. Framed dimensions: 37" high, 45" wide and 1" deep Considered to be one of Japan's finest and most innovative 20th century print makers, Mori has exhibited throughout the world and his works can be found in permanent collections in such museums and galleries as: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria Art Institute of Chicago Baltimore Museum of Art Barcelona Art...

    By Kaoru Kawano
    Located in Studio City, CA
A beautiful work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. This work is known as "Dancing Figure (Eshima)" The print is signed (in white ink within the image) and sealed (in red) by Kawano. This work is a quite rare self-printed lifetime double dai Oban large-size print. The quality and colors are striking. It is likely from a limited edition and perhaps numbered on the lower margin (we can not verify as it was previously framed but we are confident that this is the case). A very beautiful and rich image. Would make for a great addition to any Japanese art and print collection or Stand-out accent work in about any setting.
