19th Century Japanese Firemen's Coat on Custom Mount

A rare 19th century Japanese firemen's coat, constructed from smoked deer leather and with bold white stenciled characters creating a wonderfully modern pattern across the back and bottom portion of the coat. The interior is black and white with similar patterns as the exterior. The brown side would have been worn while fighting a fire, and after the fire has been extinguished, the firefighters would flip their coats inside out displaying the black side as they walked in a parade thrown by the town's people to thank them for their heroism. A custom mount will be included in the sale, but will be completed after purchase. We're happy to have the mount customized to accommodate your needs. Wall mount? Table top? You tell us what you need, and we'll have it fabricated. Please allow 1-2 weeks for completion before item will ship.
