Abstract Velvet Wall Hanging
About the Item
Designed with a lively arrangement of abstract shapes and geometric patterns, this vintage textile is a celebration of color and form. The textile is a soft mohair velvet with a low pile, woven with imaginative geometric designs reminiscent of Art Deco area rugs or Kilim carpets. The main border is decorated with an abstract pattern of diamonds, dots and fluid linework, elements repeated in the geometric motifs at the center of the fabric. Cloud-like bands of color radiate from the center with soft, curving lines, suggestive of Art Nouveau influences. These decorative patterns are rendered in a subdued palette orange, maroon, and black against a silvery-grey field. Secured with velcro at the corners, this plush textile enlivens interiors as an eccentric wall hanging or tapestry.
