Antique Textile Dancing Women Design, Late 19th Century
About the Item
This is an antique Indonesian textile woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1890-1900 and measures 100x 54CM in size. This unique textile has a pictorial design with two dancing women facing each other while supporting a baby child around their waist. Flanking each of the women can be found another person which seems to be their husbands. The border is made up of repeating shrub motifs and abstract floral designs. This unique textile has been preserved in excellent condition retaining all of its original tassels and has recently been professionally washed making it ready to be hung on a wall or to be put into a picture frame to be displayed.
