About the Item

Early 20th Century Japanese linen go-board pattern futon cover A unique example of a game-themed textile, this 3-panel futon cover is woven of very fine hemp (asa) and dyed by applying rice paste through a stencil to create a resist pattern in the form of a Go (Japanese chess) board. It is dyed with botanical indigo in a strong medium blue.
