About the Item
An outstanding set of French Gothic period andirons in cast iron. Expertly molded with sensational motifs. One of the set has the image of Saint George on horseback, the image of Joseph holding the Baby Jesus, a winged angel - all atop lions head feet. The second andiron is decorated with an architectural Gothic spire. Andirons of this age are indeed very rare. The backs where the logs are placed are original. One piece is deeper than the other. The depths are 20 1/2" and 25 1/4".
