Pair of American Queens metal urn on urn finial andirons with turned bulbous plinths, matching log stops, and terminating on spur legs with slipper feet.
Last quarter of 18th Century. Philadelphia. Recipe for queens metal was developed by English pewter-smiths in the 16th Century. Recipe was initially a secret and reserved for pieces made for the Royal family. Some refer to queens metal as bell brass.
