About the Item

This pair of antique gilt bronze andirons are unsigned, but believed to have originated from Europe, possibly France and dating to approximately 1880. The detailed cast bronze sculptures of the andirons depict figural and stylized dolphins or fish with large heads with gaping mouths that sit firmly on the floor with the tails pointed upwards. The figures are supported with very sturdy brackets.
